Nursery Use
Nursery Use
The Nursery provides a safe and loving environment for the Church of Saint Mary children. It is open during the Sunday 10:30 a.m. Mass. Children infants up to 2 years old will be cared for in the Nursery, while children 2 through 4 will be in the Motor Skills Room located in the St. Mary Preschool. The children will participate in play time, faith activities, and prayer. No reservations are required. A photo ID is required when you pick up your child.
Steps to follow if requesting the use of the Church Nursery:
- Rooms need to be reserved by contacting Courtney Leonard in the parish office at 918-749-1423.
- Once the request is confirmed, the event coordinator needs to contact the Nursery Coordinator, Christine Hassink, at chassink@churchofsaintmary.com at least one week in advance to allow her to inform the Nursery staff and make sure at least two staff members can work during that time.
- As the event gets closer, the event coordinator must contact Christine Hassink at least 3 days in advance of the event with the names and ages of the children who will use the facilities. Events require a minimum of 4 children for childcare to be provided. (The maximum number of children in the Nursery with 2 workers is 12. The maximum number of children in the Motor Skills room with 3 workers is 18.)
- The Nursery and Motor Skills rooms are open 15 minutes prior to the start of the event. If no children arrived for childcare by 15 minutes after the start of the event, the Nursery and Motor Skills rooms will be closed.
Note: We do not schedule caregivers for funerals; sometimes families will pay our caregivers out of pocket for the service, but they must hire TWO caregivers to have them work in the Church of Saint Mary.
We do not schedule childcare for events serving alcohol. If you feel that it needs to be an exception for your event, please contact the Nursery Coordinator.
Donations– We accept donations. Please consider bringing some of the following items to help support our Nursery: Kleenex, Clorox Wipes, Diaper Wipes, Latex Gloves, Double AA Batteries (we use them for toys in the Nursery), 5 oz. Paper Cups, Napkins, Lysol Spray, Dish Soap, books or toys. You can drop them off at the Nursery with a childcare provider during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday mass. We appreciate your support!
Volunteering – Looking for service hours or want to help our parish Nursery? The Nursery needs parishioners to help serve our parish’s little ones. Volunteering may include playing with the children, helping the Nursery staff, cleaning, etc. New volunteers may be required to take a VIRTUS online class provided by the Diocese, attend a training session, and have a background check before volunteering in the Nursery.
Employment– Are you interested in becoming a part of the Nursery staff? Our goal is to create a safe, loving, Christ filled environment for the children of the parish. The Nursery staff guides the children through play, faith activities, and prayer. You must be 16 years or older to apply. New hires are required to take a VIRTUS online class provided by the Diocese, attend a training session, and have a background check before performing child care duties.
For more information on donating, volunteering, or employment, please contact Christine Hassink at chassink@churchofsaintmary.com.
